Sunny Blue: Delight in Authentic Japanese Omusubi and Exquisite Ice Cream

Made to order omusubi?!? We were still a bit hungry after a near by lunch and saw everyone walking around the street with fresh omusubi, so it was decided we had to drop in! This quaint little shop is packing a big punch with made to order omisubi and boba drinks. We had such a hard time deciding which to try, as they all looked good, but landed on the pork belly, spicy tuna, and a boba ice tea. Wow!! The rice was perfectly warm and the seaweed was so fresh and crunchy. The toppings brought in so much flavor as well, making each omusubi unique. You could feel the love. Definitely will be stopping by this location more this summer, as this was the perfect light bite and their tea was hitting just right.

We expected California to have good options for Japanese food, so we were very excited when we found this place since we were planning to visit Santa Monica. Glad we could come try Japanese-style omusubi (rice balls; different regions may call it "onigiri"). Got Mentaiko (spicy cod roe), Ebi Mayo (shrimp), Spicy Salmon, and Tuna Mayo. All the filling was flavorful and delicious. Server was friendly and helpful explaining about the omusubi. Because there was no indoor seating available, we ordered it to-go, but on second thought, we decided to eat there, finding a few stools outside to put the food on-- which was a good choice because the food was fresh and delicious. I heard this kind of place with handcrafted omusubi is popular in Japan so I hope we see more of place like Sunny Blue in the US too.

Such a quaint shop, everything has cute decorations too. The food is simple, no-frills, but unbeatable quality! Great variety considering that they pretty much just serve omosubi, and i was blown away by every flavor. Don't walk too fast by this little shop, you don't want to miss out.

First discovered musabi’s in Hawaii and was excited to find this spot in Santa Monica. The shop is small with no seating, but the food is the real draw. Great selection, fresh and flavorful, and perfect for a quick snack. Love the Santa Monica vibe, a fun place to grab a bite before heading to the beach

Wanted a quick snack before heading back home and we were hungry but not starving ! Found this spot in Santa Monica . The service was great . No where to really sit or stand inside . We ordered four different flavors . They ran out of the mushroom unfortunately, but we had two different tuna’s , the salmon and the eggplant . The tuna mayo was our favorite the rest weren’t bad !nice snack place Its decent for what it is and simple .

Okay, this may have been one of my favorite food experiences lately! If you like sushi then you should give this a try for sure. The salmon was perfection and the curry was amazing! Such a fun place, will be back if we get the chance.

my favorite omusubi spot!! they have the best cheap eats, taste amazing everytime, and the staff are always very friendly! i usually get the sunnyblue curry and spicy salmon :) highly recommend to check out if you're in the area

i live around here and just recently discovered this place. it’s quickly become my new favorite! there’s usually a line but they’re quick to get you your order. feels authentic and the food is delicious! only downside is no seating (one bench outside but good luck getting that seat) so we walk down a little further to eat. my only other complaint is that they charge for siracha on the side in a small container. but will be back and recommend others to try this spot
